Well, they're not chickens, but they're much cuter.

And to think I wanted
These are more angles of the bumps mentioned below. Read there first. (It's just the order I have this set up, the later entries show up on top.)
(Don't be misled by these photos. This isn't just ONE bump. This is just a big one near my house. I go over about six of these each pass between school and home. 2 or so into town. They're really everywhere. This isn't the worst one. The worst one I've seen yet is about the 4-500 block of East Hill road. When you hit it, you come down into a mud/slosh pit, slide around some, your rear tires get a little traction on the top of the mound and hopefully, if your wheelbase is LONG enough, (whew) you'll clear it. Otherwise, I hope you've got cell reception!
My girlfriend jogs in the AM. She hit one of these quicksand like erosion spots. Sunk in up to her knees. It pulled her sneakers off. She had to fish around up to her elbows to find them, and then wear them home like that. She didn't even cry when she told me the story. She said she'd been here 14 years, she was used to it. sigh. (my sigh.)
Don't even try bringing your sedan or coupe up these miles of dirt roads.
Claire is a night owl, just WAITING for Santa. She didn't get to sleep until after Midnight.
Conor loves a Turkey leg. We had a local farm turkey for Christmas dinner.
These signs are seen around, but I've not yet seen the nearby Moose.....
This would have been a neat photo if I had a passenger to take the pic, instead of driving and capturing.
Doug has to dig out the mailbox in order to get delivery. He looks thrilled to do it, doesn't he!?
We had a break in the snow and the sun came out. I had to take a few snapshots.
Montpelier is the nation's smallest state capital. Here, 2 doors down from the capitol, smack downtown, is an example of a local full serve gas station.
Many gas stations around have electronic readout pumps, but many of these remain. Remember the 'ding-ding' sound when you'd pull up to the station? We've got it. This downtown gas station doesn't sell drinks or cigarettes or anything but oil, antifreeze, and wiper fluid. (Not because of any regulation, just because.)
Kathleen's class made self portraits with clues to help identify them. (I hope she wasn't talking about MY cooking! HA !
You can see here that hers was a real stand out. Her teacher called her a "Power House". I asked what that meant, and she just explained that Kathleen was great at everything. Sports, academics, art, everything. "Wow!" she said.
Kathleen was nominated for a "Rumney CARES Award". This was presented at an all school assembly, and consisted of a wristband (you know, those plastic/rubber ones...)and a photo on their web page. (www.rumney.org) She was chosen because of her great sportsmanship. When someone falls or gets hurt playing soccer, she stops, helps them, makes sure they're okay, THEN proceeds to score. ::grin::
Kids in the yard while working on a project. More on this later.
These are a little hard to see, but if you look in the distance you can see a blanket of clouds laying on the valley/hillside. Mornings are inevitably cloudy and one frequently finds themselves blinded by driving through them. If you click on the photos and zoom in (with say windows picture viewer or whatever app, you can see a little better, even though the resolution is limited.) I took this with my phone through the windshield while driving. Don't try this at home boys and girls. Fortunately, there is limited traffic on these dirt roads. I travel about 5 miles from my front door before I hit pavement, then the last mile or so to school is paved. Whoo hoo! The views here are amazing. Look in every direction, there is either a valley or Mountain view, or BOTH. I think I need an altimeter in my car!
